La Souche – Experimental Old School Hip Hop EP

Discover “La Souche” – A Journey into Experimental Old School Hip Hop

la+souche

I’m proud to introduce my first Experimental Old School Hip Hop EP, titled La Souche. This release is the result of countless hours spent exploring vintage sounds, digging through samples, and experimenting with new rack extensions to create something truly personal and sonically rich.

The goal with La Souche was to blend the raw energy of old school hip hop with a more modern, experimental production approach. The project stays rooted in the boom-bap tradition while layering textures that feel fresh and unique.

Here are some of the key tools that shaped the EP:

  • BOOM 808 Percussion Synth (Josh Levy) – for hard-hitting, analog-style drums
  • Combo Compact Organ (Jiggery Pokery) – providing vintage organ tones
  • PredatorRE (Rob Papen) – adding aggressive synth lines and deep bass
  • Revival Drawbar Synthesizer (Sononic) – perfect for soulful melodies and harmonics
  • Re-Tron (GForce Software) – introducing retro tape and mellotron-style textures

Each track in La Souche reflects a different creative direction, but all maintain a consistent old school hip hop essence with experimental flourishes. It’s a beat-driven, sample-heavy experience that pays homage to the genre’s roots while stepping into new territory.

For commercial use, licensing is available through Pond5, where you can purchase tracks for use in media, ads, film, or other creative projects.

Thanks for checking it out. I hope you enjoy the project as much as I enjoyed creating it.
